Seimens Competition
This competition is for an individual (senior only) or small group (9-12) research project to be conducted between May and
September. There is a lot of scholarship money involved in this competition. Deadline in September.
Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS)
STEM competition - independent research, sponsored by US Department of Defense. Many scholarship opportunities.
Google Science Fair
Group or individual scientific research projects with good prizes. Begins in the spring (February).
BioGENEius Challenges
A group of different biotechnology related challenges in the areas of medical biotechnology (Global Healthcare Challenge),
agricultural biotechnology (Global Sustainability Challenge), and industrial/environmental biotechnology (Global
Environment Challenge).
CleanTech Competition
Opens in October. Focuses on integration of environmentally responsible energy sources.
MIT Think
One or two person projects receive funding and mentorship from MIT graduate students for an innovative solution to a
problem. Deadline for submission is January.
TEAMS (Test of Engineering Aptitude, Math, and Science)
Engineering & The Environment competition that is held in the spring.
Verizon App Challenge
Design a mobile app to solve a problem. No coding is required - conceptual design. Teams of 5 members. Deadline
is November 18th. Winners can win tablets, a trip, and personal instruction by MIT coding experts to actually code and
publish their apps.
The Dupont Challenge
1000 word science essay on a selected topic. Prizes are a trip to Orlando (Disney World, Kennedy Space Center), savings
bonds, and more. Deadline will be in Feburary...not open yet.

An online competition for MS and 9th graders.

Write a 1000 word essay about physics concepts that are happening in your photo.
